As soon as the patient is referred to the North West Dialysis Centre, an introduction interview is held with the patient and their family.
In the interview, all the relevant information will be presented and discussed.
We strive to ensure that Chronic Kidney Failure patients fully grasp that a good quality, healthy life is still possible.
Types of treatments
A medical procedure to remove fluid and waste products from the blood and to correct electrolyte imbalances. This is accomplished using a machine and a dialyzer, also referred to as an “artificial kidney.”
A dialysis technique that uses the patient’s own body tissues inside the abdominal cavity as a filter. A plastic tube called a dialysis catheter is surgically placed through the abdominal wall, into the abdominal cavity.
Kidney Transplant Preparation
A kidney transplant is the replacement of a permanently damaged organ with a healthy, donated kidney. Before patients can receive a transplant, they must have a sum of tests done to ensure that they are in optimal health before the operation.
